I am an associate professor in philosophy at the University of Ghent. My current research project, The Ethics of Loneliness and Sociability', is supported by an ERC Starting Grant.
Besides loneliness and sociability, my research interests cover a wide range of topics, including friendship; love; neurodiversity; family ethics; end-of-life care; medical ethics; cultural and religious diversity; dating apps; artifical intelligence; social taboos; migration; political extremism; and liberalism. I was previously a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Zurich (Switzerland); Umea University (Sweden); KU Leuven (Belgium); and the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity in Göttingen (Germany). My academic background is in political science (PhD, MRes, European University Institute); philosophy (MPhil, St Andrews; MA, King's College London); law (LLM Aberystwyth University); and Arts and Culture (BA, Maastricht University). In 2015, I was a visiting student research collaborator at Princeton University.
